SUMMARY:Special Event: A Taste of Zingerman’s Food Philosophy With Ari
DESCRIPTION:Special Event: A Taste of Zingerman’s Food Philosophy With Ari \nTuesday\, May 16th from 7pm to 9pm\n$40 – $60\n\nYou are invited to a special event at the Roadhouse with Ari Weinzweig\, as he talks about his newest pamphlet\, “A Taste of Zingerman’s Food Philosophy”. Did you know that Zingerman’s is not just a place where you can enjoy a life-altering meal? It is also a business born from a special kind of food philosophy. Ari’s new pamphlet\, in his own words\, “takes a long look at the culinary road less traveled”\, and will be hot off the presses just in time for this event! On Tuesday\, May 16th\, we will all get to hear more from Ari about how his beliefs about food and cooking have evolved over the 41 years that have made Zingerman’s a pillar to our community. \nZingerman’s offers quality food where you really can taste the difference because of our food philosophy. See for yourself why this special event is something you do not want to miss. Here is what Ari has to say about his latest work:\n \n“The new pamphlet is\, in part\, my grudging acceptance of what Peter Koestenbaum told me many years ago. “You\, Ari\, [are] a bona fide philosopher.” I feel awkward sharing that statement\, but the wisdom of Peter’s work around philosophy is undeniable. Embracing it in recent years has opened my eyes to new insights and new understandings. The new pamphlet\, as I have come to see it\, puts in print—far more clearly than it has been in my head—the food philosophy that has made Zingerman’s what it is for all these years.\n \n“A Taste of Zingerman’s Food Philosophy” highlights how food philosophy came to matter to Ari\, how it is applied within the Zingerman’s Community of Businesses\, and how everyone can create their own philosophy as well. Here is a summary of what readers will find:   \n\nFour Decades of Food and Philosophy in Action in Ann Arbor  \nThe Zingerman’s Food Philosophy \nPutting Philosophy into Practice: Becoming a Mindful Eater  \nAn ABC of Zingerman’s Food Philosophy  \nHow Food and Cooking Changed My Life  \nCreating a Food Philosophy of Your Own  \nTime to Get Cooking: Recipes You Can Put Together in Your Kitchen \n\nAs Ari stated\, “food and cooking have\, of course\, been the main focus of my work for many decades now\, but as you’ll see in the new pamphlet\, immersing myself into the idea of intertwining our food work with philosophy has given me the frame to make that work ever more effective\, and also more meaningful.” \nEnjoy delicious appetizers\, including “chicken-fried” mushrooms\, freshly baked breads from Zingerman’s Bakehouse with Zingerman’s Creamery cream cheese\, and fresh locally-grown veggies\, and learn about the philosophy behind tasting the difference here at Zingerman’s. The pamphlet will be available for purchase\, be among the first to own a copy and have it signed! We hope to see you there!

SUMMARY:Alabama Chanin Book Event: One Night Only with Author Natalie Chanin
DESCRIPTION:[et_pb_section][et_pb_row][et_pb_column type=”4_4″][et_pb_text] \nThe Threads That Connect Us\nOne night only with author Natalie Chanin\n\nApril 11\, 7pm – 9pm\nTickets: $40\nBook: $33 \nAuthor\, fashion designer\, slow design pioneer\, and friend of the Roadhouse Natalie Chanin will be joining us for a special evening on Tuesday\, April 11th at 7 pm. You won’t want to miss this talk (or the snacks!). \nMuch like it would be true to say that the Roadhouse is a barbecue restaurant\, you could say that Natalie’s company\, Alabama Chanin® is a textile company. But that would be overlooking the nuances that make us both special. We’re passionate about American foodways and dedicated to using great ingredients and supporting small artisan producers. Natalie’s passionate about slow design and zero-waste fashion and is dedicated to creating locally sewn garments and goods using organic and recycled materials. You might say we’re both all about community and preserving tradition. As Natalie says\, \nI’ve come to believe that craft\, making\, and creative endeavors toward producing sustainable products will create an enduring future for our community. \nAlabama Chanin and The School of Making® are based in Florence\, Alabama\, an area with a rich heritage of quilting. Natalie employs local women to help sew her thoughtfully designed handmade garments and home goods\, carrying on the region’s tradition at the same time. In her sixth book\, Embroidery: Threads and Stories from Alabama Chanin and The School of Making (Abrams\, October 2022)\, Natalie shares the origins and evolution of Alabama Chanin and the School of Making. Seamlessly pulling together seemingly disparate threads—from personal stories to musings on the ethics of textile production to lessons in sewing—this book is an empowering guide for all who love design and craft. \nEnjoy some of our favorite Roadhouse appetizers\, while Ari Weinzweig\, Zingerman’s CEO and Co-founder\, leads a conversation with Natalie. She’ll be sharing stories and talking about her newly released book. Join us to turn an average Tuesday into something special. Space is limited\, so sign up and save your seat today. \n[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][/et_pb_section]

SUMMARY:Bring Your Best Self to the Table
DESCRIPTION:A book event with Author Anese Cavanaugh\nIn collaboration with ZingTrain\, the Roadhouse is thrilled to welcome author\, speaker\, and friend of the Roadhouse Anese Cavanaugh for a special event on Tuesday\, March 28th at 7 pm\, We don’t want you to miss it! \nAnese is a strategist and advisor to leaders and organizations around the world\, has been interviewed on a variety of television and radio programs and podcasts\, and has been featured in publications like Harvard Business Review\, Forbes\, Inc.\, and the New York Times. Saying we’re lucky to have her join us feels like an understatement! \nAs a leading voice on intention\, energy\, and presence in leadership and culture\, she helps people gain greater access to their own secret sauce for showing up more powerfully\, collaborating more inspiringly\, creating more openly\, intuiting more bravely\, and leading more joyfully and effectively. Anese says she knows one thing for sure: \nPeople are human; they want to connect\, they want to be seen\, they want to know they matter\, and they want to have impact\, and when you give them the space to Show Up with authenticity\, intention\, energy\, presence\, and love — magic happens. \nWe’ve been adapting her innovative energy management into what we do every day in the Zingerman’s Community for over a decade now. Ari wrote about her work in his book A Lapsed Anarchist Approach to Being a Better Leader (part 2 of his Business Book series). Her latest book\, Contagious You: Unlock Your Power to Influence\, Lead\, and Create the Impact You Want\, is especially focused on the individual—showing how each of us is contagious in our own way and stressing the importance of leading with intention to achieve positive results. It was released at the end of 2019 (a few short months prior to a time when\, admittedly\, the title could’ve reflected an entirely different topic!)\, and\, as we come out of the pandemic\, finding new ways of working\, engaging\, and being in the world\, we know that the contagious nature of our energy and emotions (and\, yes\, our health\, too) is more important than ever to pay attention to. \nAt the event (her first book event since the start of the pandemic!)\, we’ll be serving some of Anese’s favorite Roadhouse appetizers while Ari Weinzweig\, Zingerman’s CEO and Co-founder\, leads a conversation with Anese. She’ll be sharing stories\, insights\, and practical ways to implement her life-altering energy work. Some of the Roadhouse staff will chime in as well to talk about how Anese’s teachings have made a meaningful difference in their lives\, both at work and in their personal lives.

SUMMARY:Zingerman's Jelly Bean Jump Up Film Screening
DESCRIPTION:Zingerman’s Jelly Bean Jump Up Film Screening: “Empowered: Women Shaping The Future”\nFeaturing Marie Rose from Shoreline Wild Salmon\nState Theatre | Monday\, March 13th | 7pm | $40 / $30 for students\nThe Roadhouse is excited to partner with the State Theater for a very exclusive event. On March 13th\, please join us for a screening of “Empowered: Women Shaping the Future”\, directed and produced by Christina Rose. Empowered is a documentary series about young women making a major impact serving in leadership positions in underrepresented industries. (The filmmakers define underrepresented as those in which 15% or less of a given profession has women in key positions.)  \nEach episode features one woman—a Puerto Rican baseball player\, a Boeing 777 pilot from India\, a race car driver from Hungary—telling the story of their journey\, their hardships\, their impact\, and what they hope to achieve for future generations. \nTogether\, we’ll watch Episode 1\, “Finding Home\,” featuring Marie Rose (Christina’s cousin) from Shoreline Salmon in Alaska. Marie will be joining us for Q&A after the screening\, and she is also our special guest for our Jelly Bean Jump Up special dinner at the Roadhouse on March 14th! \nMarie Rose is a fisher woman and co-founder of the company Shoreline Wild Salmon\, which distributes wild caught Alaskan salmon throughout the United States. Originally from Battle Creek Michigan\, Marie early on knew she had a trait of making a difference in the world. But it wasn’t the spirit of adventure that drove her to leave\, rather an abusive relationship that left its scars. While getting a look into Marie’s work as a fisher woman and how she and her two business partners\, Joe and Keith\, catch and distribute their salmon within Michigan\, we learn of Marie’s personal journey of finding her new home and coming to terms with past demons.  \nThis is an episode that touches on themes of domestic violence\, resilience\, and adventure on a journey of sacrifice\, and determination\, which also happens to be similar to the journey of the salmon. Told she would never achieve success\, Marie is a force of nature\, as she grows into a successful businesswoman and a caring person interested only in the welfare of others.  \nSee details for our Jelly Bean Jump Up Special Dinner Event \nOrder Tickets at State Theater ?\nDonate to SafeHouse\nSafeHouse Center’s mission is to provide safety\, support\, advocacy and resources for survivors of sexual assault and intimate partner domestic violence and their children\, AND to work relentlessly to change the systems and attitudes that allow this abuse to continue. \n\n\n	\n Jelly Bean Jump Up – SafeHouse Donation\n \n	\n \n	\n \n\n	\n Jelly Bean Jump Up Donation Levels	\n \n \n \n Jump Start - $100 \n \n \n Trampoline Jump - $200 \n \n \n Bounce House - $500 \n \n \n Pole Vault - $750 \n \n \n Rocket Launchpad - $1\,000 \n \n \n\n \n\n	\n	\n	Donate\n	\n	\n\n
